   "SPIRITS OF THE CAROLINIAN"

In September of 2025 I was chosen, as an Indigenous artist, to complete a mural for Niagara's South Coast, a tourism group responsible for promoting sites of interest and events happening in the South Niagara region. My completed mural entitled "Spirits of the Carolinian", a picture of which is shown here, will be installed on the outside wall of the Pelham Public Library - Maple Acre branch. It is a 7 foot by 7 foot vinyl reproduction of my painting that was created on a 30 inch by 30 inch wood panel. It was important that the subject reflect a strong connection to the area in whch we live. We dwell amongst the Carolinian forest, a great swath of natural landscape that stetches between Lake Ontario, Lake Huron and Lake Erie. The Tulip Tree, depicted in the centre, and the Serviceberry cascading down the sides, are two of the native plant species that thrive here. Also shown is the "Metis Rose" which is a design used repeatedly in the beadwork done by my people. the Red River Metis.
